讲座内容简介:
With the continuous significant increase of energy demand and environment issues, alternative, renewable energy has become a critical research topic worldwide. This means consumers supporting national energy independence are confronted with increasing panoply of alternatives from geothermal to solar, wind power, fuel cells, and others, where the value of which differs with terrain, regional variations, and many other factors. While the traditional power grids have served us well in the past, the development of the smart grid with heterogeneous renewable energy generations has presented immense opportunities as well as challenges for the community to develop innovative technologies to facilitate the development, control, and optimization of such a massively interconnected complex system. On the other hand, the recent advancements of brain research and modern technologies have enabled scientists and engineers to hopefully develop truly general-purpose brain-like intelligent systems that are highly robust, adaptive, scalable, and fault tolerant. To this end, this talk aims to present the latest research developments of self-adaptive intelligent systems and explore their applications in energy and power systems. Specifically, this talk will focus on the computational intelligence approaches such as self-organizing learning networks and multi-scale complex system learning for the smart grid development, including power quality disturbance sensing and classification, cognitive energy devices and systems, and adaptive control and optimization. Future research directions and challenges in this field will also be discussed.
